Love At First Sound

If you couldn't tell by the title of my blog, I love Mumford and Sons. For thse of you who don't know Mumford and Sons is set to release their new album on May 4 (ten days before my birthday!) and one of the songs was released already. It's called Believe and their album is Wilder Mind.

The song has a completely different sound than all of their past music. It has less banjo and strings and more electric, something people weren't expect. There has been some uproar with the new song. I had some thought of my own and just wanted to share some first thoughts.

Let me just set the picture for you. I'm sitting in the library on a Wednesday night studying Microbiology. Exhaustion has taken over me and I'm all by my lonesome self at this table. The library is filled with people. Believe comes on iTunes radio and I hear Marcus's voice (yep we're on first name bases). I can't exactly freak out so these are the thoughts that run through my head.

Is that Marcus?! It sounds just like him but like not anything like Mumford and Sons.
*Checks phone* IT IS MARCUS! IT'S MARCUS AND MUMFORD AND SONS!
Well this is different...
Where's the banjo? I miss the banjo! That was their thing!
I have to tell someone about this! *Looks around library*
Well there's no one here to tell...
I'll just tweet about it.
Wait that's not enough! I'll just text my roommate.
Let me just simmer down and listen to the lyrics.
These are pretty lyrics. No surprise here.
*Song ends*
Marcus and boys I am proud of you.
Now lets listen again!

So as you can see I freaked out a little. Actually more like a lot and if I wasn't in the library I'm pretty sure I would have been screaming. I'm pretty dramatic. After listening to the song I went and looked at what other people were saying. A lot of people were upset it sounded different and they were saying they couldn't tell. All I have to say is if you know them than you can surely tell it's Marcus signing.

If you haven't listened to the new song go listen to it right now! I've had it on repeat for a week.

Only One?!

{Day 11}
You can only watch one movie, listen to one song, and read one book for the rest of your life. What are they?

This is such a hard decision to make! I'm only allowed to choose one item for each category! I hate making decisions so much.

I think the easiest category for me to choose is the movie. I don't really watch movies so I had a little selection to choose from. After thinking it over for like 5 minutes I picked Matilda. First of all it is the first movie that came to mind and is one of my favorites. Secondly I can quote the movie and the scenes never get old for me. If I had time right now I would go watch Matilda but there is homework to be done.

Picking a book is the next easiest category for me to choose. My favorite books are always changing and because of time issues I haven't actually read a book in months. I had to think hard about this one and chose The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. Most summers I read this book plus the two sequels but I missed it the summer that just past. Like I said earlier I just didn't have time. I could probably tell you every little event that happens in the book thats how many times I've read it.

I thought picking just one song would be hard because I'm always changing what my favorite song is but I was wrong. After some thinking I was hit with the realization that Home by Phillip Phillips is my favorite song of all time. Nothing could change that. To me its more than just a song. Every year the senior class picks a song to represent them. Home was my song for my senior year. The words just represent my class and my high school so well. I always get so happy when it randomly comes on the radio or pandora. I could listen to Home everyday and never get tired of it.

My Top 10 Disney Songs

I usually don't listen to disney songs unless they are in the movies. The other day I was in the library doing homework and listening to music. I usually alternate between the top hits radio, America Authors radio, and the Talk Dirty radio on pandora. I happened to be writing about some Disney songs so I thought I would listen to the Tangled radio. I was in heaven the whole time!

After listening to the radio I found I love so many different Disney songs. Here's my list of songs that I love and the movies they are from.

  1. Part of Your World (Little Mermaid)
  2. Do You Want To Build A Snowman? (Frozen)
  3. Under The Sea (Little Mermaid)
  4. You've Got A Friend In Me (Toy Story)
  5. Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast)
  6. If I Didn't Have You (Monsters Inc)
  7. In Summer (Frozen)
  8. I See The Light (Tangled)
  9. You'll Be In My Heart (Tarzan)
  10. When Will My Life Begin? (Tangled)
